Press Release: SolTrans Curtola Park and Ride Hub Construction Update

Vallejo, CA – Solano County Transit (SolTrans) will begin construction of Phase I improvements to the SolTrans Curtola Park and Ride Hub on Monday, June 30, 2014. The first phase, which is expected to last eight months, mainly involves the construction of the new transit center in the center of the facility. Very limited parking will be available as a result of construction, and users are encouraged to park in downtown Vallejo as the facility is improved.

Consequently, SolTrans Transit Service at the facility will be impacted as follows, effective Monday, June 23, 2014:

  • Route 3 will continue to serve the facility; however, the route will be detoured to board and alight passengers at a temporary bus stop at Lemon Street and Carlson Street. Additionally, due to this detour, the bus stop at Curtola Parkway and Napa Street will be discontinued until such time that Phase I is completed and full transit service is restored at the facility.
  • Solano Express routes 76, 78, 80, and 80S will not serve the facility, and transit riders are instead encouraged to park at the City of Vallejo’s parking garage located directly across from the Vallejo Transit Center at 415 Santa Clara Street for a fee.
  • The bus stop at Curtola Parkway and Napa Street will continue to be served by Routes 76, 78, 80, and 80S, providing connections to local employers such as the Times Herald and Meyer. (Again, Route 3 will not serve this stop due to the necessary detour during construction.)

To assist transit riders during construction, a “Reduced Monthly Bus Pass Incentive” is being implemented. Any transit rider who presents a currently monthly parking receipt from the City of Vallejo will receive a $10 discount on the purchase of a 31-day Multi-Zone Bus Pass during the construction process.

In addition to making accommodations for transit riders, effective June 30, 2013, SolTrans is relocating the casual carpool location to the north side of Maine Street between Santa Clara Street and Mare Island Way in downtown Vallejo. Individuals utilizing casual carpools are also encouraged to park in the City of Vallejo’s parking garage at 415 Santa Clara Street.

For individuals participating in Vanpools, SolTrans asks that you coordinate your rides to occur in the smaller parking lot located on the east side of Lemon Street during the construction process.

The public should further note that Curtola Parkway will remain open during construction.

SolTrans sincerely appreciates the public’s patience as we modernize and expand the facility to better meet the community’s transportation needs, and we will be working diligently to complete this project as quickly as possible. More information on the construction process and transportation options may be found at (under Planning – SolTrans Curtola Park and Ride Hub) or by calling 707-553-4855.

Solano County Transit (SolTrans) is the public transportation provider for the Cities of Benicia and Vallejo. SolTrans provides local fixed route bus, regional express bus, complementary paratransit, dial-a-ride service, and subsidized taxi programs. We deliver safe, reliable and efficient transportation services that link people, jobs, and our communities. The agency is a Joint Powers Authority (JPA) that is governed by a six-member Board of Directors. The Board is composed of two representatives from each member city, Solano County’s representative on the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC), and a representative from the Solano Transportation Authority.
