Press Release: SolTrans Supports Vallejo’s Waterfront Weekend with Free Local Rides and a Special Community Shuttle on Saturday
Vallejo & Benicia, CA – On Saturday, October 4, 2014, Solano County Transit (SolTrans) is supporting Vallejo’s Waterfront Weekend festivities by providing the following:
1) A Special Community Shuttle: A FREE Community Shuttle will operate between downtown Vallejo and Mare Island every 15 minutes, allowing passengers to board and alight at designated stops. The first trip will leave the downtown Vallejo Transit Center (VTC) at 9:45 a.m. to head to Mare Island, and the last trip from the VTC will be at 4:00 p.m. Service will not be provided between 12:25 and 12:59, and it will end at 4:25 p.m.to allow patrons to connect to other local fixed routes at the end of the day.
The Community Shuttle bus will take passengers to historic destinations such as the Mare Island Museum, St. Peter’s Chapel, Alden Park, and the Vallejo Naval and Historical Museum. Individuals could also appreciate the arts by bus, which will go by the Coal Shed Studios on Mare Island, the Empress Theatre, and the downtown arts district. In fact, volunteers will be on the buses departing the Ferry Building bus stop on Mare Island Way at 12:02, 1:02 and 2:02 p.m. to provide a special overview of the sites along the way. Additionally, this service will provide easy access to the festivities along the waterfront, at the JFK Library, and in downtown Vallejo such as the Farmer’s Market and the Classic Car Show. Residents of Mare Island are especially encouraged to take the community shuttle to the festivities to avoid any parking and traffic hassles.
2) Free Rides on the Local Fixed Route System: To maximize access to the festivities for local citizens, SolTrans is offering free rides on the local fixed route system with the “Free Rides” advertisement accompanying this press release. Individuals wishing to take advantage of this offer simply need to present this advertisement either in print or on a mobile device to the bus operator upon boarding any local buses. This offer is only valid on Saturday, October 4, 2014. Furthermore, this offer is not valid on any Solano Express Routes, including Routes 76, 78, 80 and 85.
SolTrans encourages everyone to “try transit” to enjoy the festivities and to explore Vallejo’s historic gems along the waterfront, in downtown Vallejo and on Mare Island.
