10-14-15 SolTrans Curtola Park & Ride Ribbon Cutting Press Release
Vallejo, CA – Today, October 14, SolTrans cut the symbolic ribbon for the renovated SolTrans Curtola Park & Ride Hub. U.S. Congressman Mike Thompson, 5th District, California State Assemblymember Jim Frazier, Chair of the Assembly Transportation Committee, California State Senator and Majority Whip, Lois Wolk, Caltrans District 4 Director, Bijan Sartipi, MTC Commissioner and Solano County Supervisor, Jim Spering, Solano Transportation Authority (STA) Board Chair, Benicia Mayor, Elizabeth Patterson, and Osby Davis, Mayor for the City of Vallejo and SolTrans Chairperson, all spoke at the long awaited event today. Unfortunately, due to the multiple fires that have affected the area, PG&E crews have been unable to complete the final electrical hook up for the project. The team at SolTrans knows that the work PG&E is doing to help thousands of homeowners and businesses impacted by this unprecedented fire season is far more important and needs their full attention.
SolTrans anticipates that the transit hub will open before the end of 2015, based on the information provided by PG&E. Mona Babauta, Executive Director, had this to say about the project, “We are excited to see this project come to completion and for the commuting public to once again use the site to get to and from work each day. However, we are not going to lose sight of the critical work PG&E has to do first so that those affected by the fires can get back into their homes. We are not going to press PG&E to make the final connections until they have the manpower available to do so. We appreciate our customer’s patience as PG&E returns service and infrastructure to the communities affected by this disaster.”
Once open, the site will provide expanded parking, new passenger waiting areas with weather protection, security cameras and LED lighting, electrical vehicle charging stations, wrought iron fencing to limit unauthorized access, new casual carpool loading and unloading areas, new Ticket Sales Office and vending kiosk, restroom facilities and site furniture. In addition to these improvements, new landscaping on the site will serve to enhance the visual image of this main gateway into the city of Vallejo. SolTrans will provide updates to the public as information becomes available.
To assist our commuters during construction, SolTrans is providing $10 off a 31-Day Multi-zone Pass for riders who park in the City of Vallejo Waterfront Parking Garage at Maine & Santa Clara.

Effective October 19, 2015
The SolTrans Curtola Park & Ride Hub is not yet open, though it is well over 90% complete. SolTrans is waiting for a permanent power source to be established by PG&E, and certain pieces of work cannot be done until that occurs. Due to the fires in Lake County, PG&E’s northern California resources have been primarily deployed to that area to assist with recovery efforts. Once the power source has been connected, and weather permitting, we estimate we can open by the end of December 2015. However, this may change. SolTrans will post updates to our website as information becomes available.
Since the September Board meeting, the following achievements have been met:
- Eleven 18 feet tall palm trees;
- Stormwater pollution and prevention elements;
- Canopy structures for the transit platform;
- A Ribbon Cutting event occurred at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday October 14, 2015.
- Striping for parking spaces;
- New “compass” in transit platform area;
- Installing signs and monuments;
- Installing 36” and 42” railings;
- Building the structure for the security/restroom/kiosk facility;
- Landscaping for median islands and project site;
- Installing solar array system on canopy;
