SolTrans Summer Adventure

SOLTRANS  allows you to explore the world around you in a safe, convenient manner. It connects you with your community and helps you connect to other communities as well. We want to help you discover your community and connect with some great events that are happening all around you this summer! SolTrans is not only sponsoring the following events, but will also help you get to every one of them. 

Simply ride the bus to the event and collect a sticker at each one. Once you have collected all of them (or at least 4)  submit your Entry Form to the Vallejo Transit Center at 311 Sacramento St Vallejo to win!  That’s all there is to it. We have some wonderful prizes for you to win.  Below is further information for each of the events:

1. PISTA SA NAYON
Saturday June 3, 2017 8 AM TO 5 PM, COST: FREE
The Marina Green, 301 Mare Island Way, along the Vallejo Waterfront (just north of the Vallejo Ferry Building)

Pista sa Nayon is the highlight of the City of Vallejo’s June Philippine Cultural Month. The event celebrates the Philippine Independence Day, when Filipinos first proclaimed their independence from Spain after over 300 years of colonial rule. This annual event kicks off with a parade starting at Marin and Capitol streets in Vallejo, it travels through the Historic Vallejo Downtown and ends at the Marina Green along the Vallejo Waterfront. The event continues with non-stop music and entertainment on two stages for the rest of the afternoon. This is one of Vallejo’s largest FREE outdoor festivals. It draws crowds wanting to sample Philippine cuisine, soak up Filipino hospitality, and enjoy entertainment that connects all ages, cultures and ethnicities. Come and experience the Philippine Culture firsthand and bring your whole family.

2. VALLEJO JUNETEENTH
Saturday June 17, 2017, 11 AM TO 4 PM, COST: FREE
Vallejo City Park 425 Alabama St.

Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day or Emancipation Day, marks the anniversary for the abolition of slavery in Texas on June 19, 1865. The celebration marks that important date but also recognizes the positive contributions of African Americans here and across the United States. The event features music, arts & crafts, food and more from both local and regional artists and vendors. It’s a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the unique cultural diversity of Vallejo and it offers fun for all ages.

3. BENICIA TORCH LIGHT PARADE
Monday, July 3, 2017. 6:30 TO 9:30 PM, COST: FREE
First St, Benicia

This is Benicia’s 4th of July parade that marches down First Street and is full of dancers, music, classic cars and more – just on the 3rd of July. It’s a great event and many of the retailers and restaurants on Benicia’s historic First Street stay open late to allow for the crowds to do a little shopping and dining before they go home. The best seats get filled up quickly, so make sure to pick out your spot early.

4. VALLEJO 4TH OF JULY PARADE
Tuesday, July 4, 2017. 10 AM TO 12 PM, COST: FREE
Georgia St, Vallejo Downtown

It’s the 164th year for this historic 4th of July parade. All of the traditional parade fun like horses, bands, and floats, and some things that you can only see in Vallejo, such as their giant puppets or the Mad Hatter that marches in the parade and helps to kick off the 4th of July. It’s a wonderful way to build up an appetite for all of those 4th of July BBQ’s.

5. VALLEJO BACK TO SCHOOL TRANSIT FAIR
Thursday, August 10, 2017. 3 PM TO 5 PM, COST: FREE
Vallejo Transit Center, 311 Sacramento, St, Vallejo

A great way to get ready for back to school, learning how public transit can get you to school and home, safely and on time. Learn which routes to take and how you can use the bus service to connect yourself all throughout town and the Bay Area, too. There will also be a free raffle for a 31-Day youth pass for all that attend.

6. VALLEJO OUTREACH
Saturday, August 12, 2017. 11 AM TO 3 PM, COST: FREE
The Marina Green, 301 Mare Island Way, along the Vallejo Waterfront (just north of the Vallejo Ferry Building)

This is an annual back-to-school resource fair to help children in need as well as all children in the community. It will feature a health & social services fair, a grocery giveaway, a shoe giveaway, carnival games and bounce houses for kids, and free lunch for everyone in attendance.

7. BENICIA BACK TO SCHOOL TRANSIT FAIR.
Thursday, August 17, 2017. 3 PM TO 5 PM, COST: FREE
Benicia Library, 150 East L St, Benicia

A great way to get ready for back to school, learning how public transit can get you to school and home, safely and on time. 8. VALLEJO ADMIRALS GAME.
June 2nd to August 22nd, 2017. GAME TIMES VARY (see the full schedule at www.VallejoAdmirals.com/schedule) COST: $5, CHILDREN 10 AND YOUNGER FREE WITH A PAID ADULT.

Vallejo’s own professional baseball team. Come on out and enjoy the game—and take the bus to get there! See tomorrow’s stars before they make it big. The Vallejo Admirals play in the Pacific Association of Professional Baseball Clubs.
