To promote the use of transit and transit-related information and make it easier for software developers to make innovations, we are making our software data services available as we bring them on board.

If there is a format you do not see, please know that we likely are not using that tool at the moment. Otherwise, just leave us a comment.

SolTrans Transit Terms

Before you get started, you should review the following terms that appear frequently in our data. These are SolTrans’ definitions and do not necessarily represent the definitions for other transit agencies.

Term

Definition

Block A collection of trips assigned to a bus during a specific time-frame on a given day.
Direction The general path a route moves to reach its terminal destination. We have 7 directions: Northbound, Southbound, Eastbound, Westbound, Clockwise, Counterclockwise, & Loop.
GTFS General Transit Feed Specification, a common format for public transit information and associated geographic information, which results in two feeds: static and realtime.
Route A collection of ordered stops (patterns) with a name (e.g. Route 1, Red Line).
Pattern Unique travel paths with varying stops for the same route.
Route A collection of ordered stops (patterns) with a name (e.g. Route 1, Red Line).
Run Generally speaking, a collection of trips assigned to a driver during a specific time-frame on a given day.
Stop ID The unique 6-digit number that identifies each SolTrans bus stop, transit center or transit center bays.
Timepoint A stop on a route that serves as a benchmark for whether a trip is running on time.
Trip A bus traveling on a specific pattern with a specific one-way direction.

SolTrans GTFS

Connexionz, Ltd., provides SolTrans’ GTFS static and realtime datasets.

Please do not use the official SolTrans logo on anything you develop, so that customers know what they’re getting directly from SolTrans versus any other open data source. (Ps. By downloading and using SolTrans’ GTFS (Data), you agree to be bound by all of the Terms and Conditions set forth below:

  • SolTrans has General Transit Feed Specification (GTFS) data available for software developers, to promote the use of transit and transit related information. The data available will be updated periodically as changes occur.
  • Data is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. SolTrans makes no representations or warranties of any kind, express or implied. SolTrans disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose. SolTrans and its employees, officers, directors and agents will not be liable for damages of any kind arising from the use of Data including but not limited to direct, indirect, incidental, punitive and consequential damages.
  • SolTrans logos, trademarks and/or copyrighted materials, including any confusingly similar variants, may not be used in association with data;
  • SolTrans reserves the right to alter and/or no longer provide Data at any time without prior notice.
  • SolTrans maintains title, ownership, rights and interest in and to Data.

In the event of a service change, this file will contain both the current and future schedule periods merged together. Your software must use the date ranges in the calendar.txt table to select the correct trips based on date.
